Silicone Terminology

Specific Surface Area: the surface area of Per gram silica gel, including the addition of internal micropore and external surface area

Unit: m2/g

Pore Volume: the total volume of the inner pores of per gram silica gel

Unit: ml/g

Pore Diameter: the diameter of silica gel’s internal micropore

Unit: A O or nm    1nm=10 A O

Amount of adsorption: silica gel adsorb the vapor in a certain relative humidity and come to saturated, at this time, the amount of adsorbed water vapor was called the amount of adsorption.

Unit: %

Tap Density: the ratio of the quality of silica gel and their accumulation space volume

Unit: g/l

PH value: it is definde as the negative log of hydrogen ion concentration. Silica gel PH value means the PH value which is handled with certain conditions, and contain a certain proportion Silicone solution

Specific resistance: a criterion to indicate the fineness of silica gel. Specific resistance itself is defined as the resistance of solution at 1cm distance. Specific resistance of silica gel is the resistance which handled with a certain condition, the water-soluble electrolyte gel dissolve out, then determined by electric conductivity. Higher the resistance is, lower the quality of water-soluble electrolyte contained in silica gel is.

Unit: Ω·cm

Abrasion ratio: an indicator which shows the wear intensity of silica gel. It refers to the wear quantum of silica gel under certain conditions

Unit: %

Non-burst rate of contacting with water: refers to the water degree of water-resistant silicone

Unit: %
